This is the perfect recipe to try if you are making beef jerky for the first time!
BEEF JERKY
2-3 lbs London broil
Marinade
¼ c soy sauce
¼ c teriyaki sauce
½ c coffee; optional
1 tsp liquid smoke
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp paprika
1 packet Sazon Goya (con cilantro y tomate)
Freeze meat for about 2 hours to make it easier to slice.
Slice meat into ¼ inch slices with or against the grain [went against the grain; short side].
Stir all the marinade ingredients together in a large measuring cup.
Place meat in a large zip lock baggie; pour marinade over and squish it together to mix well.
Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
Early in the morning; drain the meat, discarding marinade, in a colander.
Arrange the meat strips on the dehydrator racks; not too close together. Stack racks and place lid on dehydrator.
Turn to high ~ 160° for anywhere from 4-5 hours
When dry, place meat on paper towels to rest and absorb any oils for about 2 hours.
Store in zip lock bag in fridge for 3 weeks or freeze for 6 months.
*Allow yourself 2 days to make this.
