I like my chow mein plain (editor) how about you?
::::::::::::::::::::
The video will show VEGETABLES chow mein, just substitute the vegetables to make it beef, chicken, BBQ Pork, etc. chow mein.
The amount for substitution is up to each individual’s personal preference. For example, add more beef if you like beef chow mien. Want some vegetables and chicken? Add as much as you desire. We will use the terms ‘main ingredient’ for substitutable ingredient.
Ingredients:
0.5 lb chow mein
handful bean spouts
some shredded onion
some shredded carrot
1/2 tsp minced ginger
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
2:4 tsp ratio of potato starch:water mixture
desire amount of main ingredients.
Method:
1. Start with pan frying the chow mien to give a nice crisp and to prevent over sogginess.
2. In a pot precook the bean spouts, shredded vegetables and main ingredients. Once everything is cooked, add in the chow mein and stir a bit before draining/strain. This help the noodle mixed in with the other ingredient quicker.
3. In a wok or cooking pan, create an aromatic flavour by using some cooking oil with garlic and ginger. Then add in oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, salt and sugar. Add in the precook ingredients and give a quick mix.
3. Pour the potato starch mixture into the noodles to thicken the sauce. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
Enjoy!
