hi there and welcome to the saltedpepper where we cook for real life usingreal food and we keep it real simpletoday I’m gonna use the ninja foodie hotcold blender to whip up a really quickblueberry glaze this is a blueberrybarbecue type of a glaze or a sauce andwe’re gonna do it right in the ninjafoodie because I found that this blenderwill heat up everything blend it all upand it’ll be ready to go in no time atall then I’m gonna use this sauce andseveral different recipes that arecoming up that are made in the ninjafoodie including a ham video that I willlink to right up there that’s right Iused this blueberry glaze on a ham andit was deliciousalright so the first thing we’re gonnado is take the lid off of the ninjafoodie now if you have just gotten yourninja foodie or you are about to getyour ninja foodie hot gold blenderplease know that this is lid is going tobe super hard to get off when you firstget it I mean I struggled with it on myvideo and it was kind of funny because Ithought if this is how it’s gonna be allthe time oh my gosh it’s gonna be toughfor me but it isn’t after you get it offonce or twice it is super easy and itjust goes right on like this and thenlocks in to place there’s also a caphere that you can unscrew and lift upthis does not interrupt the blendercycle so this is where you can add iningredients without interrupting thecook or the blend cycle so all right solet’s take the lid off now the otherthing I found from working with theninja foodie blender is the best thingto do is to put in your liquidingredients into the bottom so we’regonna use frozen blueberries you coulduse fresh too but these are just frozenthat I got out of the freezer and we’regonna put those in but don’t put them infirst put your liquid down in the bottomthen I’m gonna put the sugar then I’mgonna put the blueberries otherwise theblueberries can start to create abarrier or any kind of thicker food likeeven the sugar could create a barrierright on the bottom and it doesn’tconduct heat as well so if you haveliquid ingredients like I do with thehalf of a cup of apple cider vinegar andthen two teaspoons of lemon juiceput those in first when you’re gonna gounder the cook mode now if you’re notgoing under cook that’s a differentstory but we are going to cook thisbarbecue clay is a blueberry barbecueglaze all right I have a 1/2 of a cup ofbrown sugar now if you don’t want to useany sugar or less sugar or a sugarsubstitute you can go ahead and do thatbut I’m not sure I haven’t tested therecipe so don’t know how that’s gonnaturn out usually all barbecue sauceshave some sort of sugar in them youcould use white sugar you could use thebrown sugar you could use a dark brownsugar that will be finethe next thing I’m gonna put in ourspices what I have here is 1/8 of ateaspoon of chipotle powder that’s ourspice now if you want it a little bitspicier you could always add an extra 8of a teaspoon but I’m starting outreally really with a small amountbecause Chipotle can really pack a punchso be careful when using it or you canomit it all together or you could add incayenne instead that’s up to you and Ihave 1/2 of a teaspoon of sea salt finegrind and I have 1/4 of a teaspoon ofallspice and 1/4 of a teaspoon ofcinnamon and those are our spices to goin then I have some more spices I have 2teaspoons of black pepper that’s just afine grind black pepper and 2 teaspoonsof chili powder and we’re gonna putthose in now on top I’m gonna add in 2cups of frozen blueberries so they’vebeen sitting here but they’re stillpretty frozen so just put those in andnow we get our lid on now we’re gonnaturn the hot/cold blender on we’re gonnago to cook and high heat so we’re justgonna let this heat up let the sugarmelt into the vinegar and lemon juiceand kind of let these blueberries reducea little bit once that happens and it’snice and hot I’m gonna give it a coupleof pulses and we’re gonna be done allright so it’s just been about fiveminutes that this has been heating upand what I’ve heard is it kind of comeup to a little bit of a simmerand then kind of quiet back down andthen it repeats that cycle so what I’mgonna do now I’m actually seeing someboiling starting on the very top so whatI’m gonna do is go in and sort of moveit around a little bit and you can go inthrough this little Center thingespecially with this long skinny spatulaand just sort of move it around a littlebit and you can see it’s gonna it’sreally reducing at till the blueberriesare reducing their liquid and I thinkwe’ll be good now and then now it shouldreally start to boil up for us I canalready hear it so we’re gonna goanother five minutes and then we’ll seehow hot those blueberries have becomeand if it’s time to pulse if not we cango another five minutes but really thisis not going to take more than fifteenminutes to do all right so it’s justbeen a little bit over ten minutes andit has been doing that same thing but itstill has not come to a complete boil soI’m gonna take the center out here andgo ahead and move it around now it iscompletely liquid so it really should bestarting to boil pretty soon and that’swhat I want to see I just want to get itto one little minute of boiling and thenI will blend it up and we’ll be doneusually when you stir it around you canhear it I can hear it now and I canactually see it now and I can also seethe steam building here let’s see if wecan bring that that’s one thing I likeabout the blender for certain things andI don’t like it for this reason is thatit’s cycles on and off so that’s whyit’s very difficult to make jam andpreserves in the blender I have beensuccessful with that a couple of timesbut not anything that I can put a recipeout with because it’s been pretty muchhit or miss so that’s one of thedownsides if I hit that I want it onhigh I really want it on high the wholetime don’t cycle it on and off for meI’ll decide that but it does so anywaywe live with it it’s still a coolappliance and I use it all the time soI just live with it but now I want it tocome to that boil you know and if it wasa thin liquid you know like a brothfirst soup or something it boils so fastso it really is quick for thin liquidsit’s just when we get into the thickersyrupy kinds of liquids that it it juststruggles just a little bit to boil butusually it will it will happenone thing I can say resist the urge toblend it though I’ve tried that I’ve gotimpatient and I I’ve just hit the pulseand that’s just gonna make it thicker sodon’t do that if you’ve got some kind ofwhole fruit or you know whatever you’recooking if you’ve got whole pieces inthere and you’re trying to get it toboil don’t blend it beforehand all rightso we’re coming up on 15 minutes andthat’s all I’m gonna do it is hot inthere even though it never came to acomplete boilit’s very liquefied it’s very hot thisis hot to touch it’s gonna be fine soI’m not gonna worry about that I’m gonnago ahead and pulsenow watch it come to a complete rollingboil right it might who knows maybe I’mwrongI just know other times when I’ve pushedthe pulse button it didn’t boil afterthat so I think I’m gonna go on thesmoothie I’m still seeing some somewhole blueberries and of course myblueberries are really frozen too cuz afresh would act a little bit differentand I don’t mind having some pieces ofthe blueberry but I don’t want like bigchunks not for this anywayI hit the cook cycle to cancel it outand then just hit smoothie[Music][Music]all right there we go now let’s go aheadand open this up and it is steaming hotI mean steaming hot this is gonna lookextremely thin it will thicken up as itcools and it actually doesn’t even lookthat thin but it will actually thickenup more than thatall right just putting a little bit inthere so I can taste it and I’m gonnataste it on a little cracker that hasjust has some cream cheese cuz I mean Icould eat it like in the spoonful but itdoesn’t really give you a good idea ofhow balanced it is with other flavors soI’m gonna just put a little bit on mycracker here and we’ll see how deliciousit is[Music]wow that is good oh wowoh my gosh that is so delicious it’sspicy so if you don’t like any spicedon’t add in that Chipotle[Music]it’s superb absolutely superb now thiswill definitely thicken up see if youcan see the viscosity of it now it willprobably come two times thicker thanthat now if you wanted to turn this into a jelly be delicious you could eitherdo one or two things you can put in somefruit pectin bring it to a boil maybe inthe blender maybe and then into a teapotmaybe on the stove however you want todo it or you can put in some cornstarchblend it up and then boil it does haveto boil cornstarch needs to boil toactivate so you would need to bring itup to a boil but I think you could dothat I would try it in the blender butif not definitely on the stovetop andthen you would end up with a muchthicker sauce but to gel it you wouldneed to use pectin probably but thatmight be something I try because on thatcracker this was delicious so this is areally quick and easy fresh blueberryglaze or barbecue sauce it would begreat on chicken be fantastic on brisketlike I said I’m gonna use it on ham forthose of you that don’t want asuper-sweet ham glaze I’m gonna use itto make my six ham so if you want to seehow to make a ham in the Ninja fruttiyou could definitely do that by watchingthat video right over there
