Crispy Smoked Chicken Wings

On this video, I smoked up some super crispy chicken wings on my Yoder YS640 pellet smoker. The rubs I used were from R Butts R Smokin and a rub sent to me by Kent at Daddy Dutch BBQ. I ran my smoker for 1 hour at 375° and 10 minutes at 450°. Wait for the smoker to hit 450° and then start the 10 minutes.

hello welcome back to my channel I’mdoing smoking chills pit barbecue ontoday’s video we’re making some handsanitizer I’m jokingwe’re smoking some wings crispy wingsstay tuned it’s crazyperfect it helps to start with a nicesharp knife look at that alright so theyshow you what I got here I’ve got apaper towel over some chicken wings okayand I prepared these this morning andI’ve got them on the cooling rackthere’s a paper towel under my coolingrack as well let me lift this you guysand see that you see that right thereand I just spread them out over thiscooling rack and what this does is it’sgonna dry out that skin in order to getthat nice crispy skin that people likeon naked chicken wingsyou’ve got to dry that surface out andyou can do it overnight but again I didthis this morning it’s 5 o’clock in theafternoon and the surface is pretty drythere’s two rubs that I’m using on thisvideo one of them is this our butts aresmoked and this is their kick buttchicken now I really wanted to do awhole chicken with this rub but there’sno chicken anywhere with what’s going ontoday and half of these I am gonna usethis rub from Daddy Dutch BBQ this ishis sweet heat rub this is a homehomemade rub look at that custom labelok this is just for Joe but he grows hisown peppers and he’s been making thisrub for I think a couple of years and Igotta tell you there’s pepper flake inhere and it’s pretty spicy not crazyspicy but I think the wings are gonna begood so half of them with this our buttsare smokingkick butt chicken and the other halfwhat daddy daddy touches sweet heat rubnow half of these I’m gonna put in ajust a ziplock bag I’m gonna split themup evenly let me get these split up andI’ll bring this back alright so I’ve gotthe wing split up into different Ziplocbaggiesthis is Kent’s sweet heat just gonna putenough of these or this rub in therejust kind of eyeball it leave this onthe air inside your bag and get them allshut up like this oh manexcuse me this rub he’s got some kick toit I think this this one pick me rightbehind it fit okayand you know that doesn’t look likeenough for up to me so I’m gonna putsome more that ought to do it okay justgive it a good shakejust like that now these are gonna siton my counter for about 10 minutes whileI smoke or while I warm up my pelletsmoker and here’s the kick butt chickenagain I want to use on a whole chickenbut there’s none so we’re gonna add somechicken wings put it enough of the rubin there just like that and it smellsgood this rub here it’s got a little bitof sugaractually both rubs have some sugar butthis one isn’t very hot it’s got a lidjust a slight kick almost like it’s gota little bit of chili powder maybe butit’s gonna be really good as well it’sjust not gonna be as hot as Kent’s I cantell you that right nowthere you go that is perfect so I’ve gotmy smoker warming up I’ve got it set at375 degrees I’ll see you guys outsidestay tuned alright so my smokers up to375 degrees I’ve got the wings on thetop rack I am using one of these sheetshere that I’ve used before my videos Iabsolutely love to use this because if Ineed to turn this this I can just grabit and turn it not have to sit there andmove every single chicken wing Plus thesmoke hits the bottom and the top sideof the wing so we’re gonna give thisabout 45 minutes maybe even an hourI’ll bring guys back before I pull themoff stay tuned all right so we’re 40minutes into the cook now let’s look atthese wings oh yeah they got a reallynice color to them let’s get an internaltemperature on this bad boy right herenow chicken is safe to eat at 165 okaybut you can take it up as high as youwant just get that and that’s skin niceand crispy I’m at 180 already ok sointernally they’re ready to eat you’renot gonna have any blood or anythinglike that now let it go okay let thatthat skin get nice and crispy it’sstarting to get really nice and crispyas you guys can see that so I want togive another probably another oh manlook at that that’s beautiful maybeanother ten minutes or so I’m gonnaclose the door so I don’t lose a wholelot of heat so about another ten minuteswe’ll see you guys inside stay tunedalright so our wings are ready now thelast 10 minutes of the cook I didincrease the temperature to 450 degreesnow when I mean increased it to 450 thatmeans let the pit get to 450 and run itfor 10 minutes that’s gonna give youthis really nice crispy skin that youcan see here I don’t know if you guyscan hear that but you can probably seethat that these wings are extremelycrispy now this is the kick-butt chickenfrom our butts are smokin and then thisis cancer rub right here the sweet heatI can’t wait to try them before we trythem look at this beautiful choppingboard this came from Haley home commcheck about I will recentlybought these bottles from trust gonnaput a little bit of sauce on a chickenwing and see what it tastes like with alittle bit of sauce nothing too crazysomebody mentioned I should put that ona shirt because I say that so much butlet’s try some astrub sauce on them mmmthat sauce is hot okay not not reallyhot but it’s hot and it’s really tastyyou know both of these wings don’t needany sauce
