Healthy Grill Chicken

Healthy grilled chicken

Also called Tandoori chicken is a chicken dish prepared by roasting chicken marinated in spices in a tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven. The dish originated from the Indian subcontinent and is popular in many other parts of the world.

Serves 6-7 people

Ingredients

* ½ kg CHICKEN (500-800 grams ) about about 10-12 pcs
* 1tbsp GINGER GARLIC PASTE or powder
* 1 tsp GARAM MASALA
* 1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder.
* 2 tsp pepper powder
* 1 tbsp coriander powder (or daniya powder)
* salt to tast
* ¼ tsp Turmeric (or haldi)
* 2 tbsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
* 1 whole lime
* 1tbsp cumin powder (or zeera powder )
* 2 tbsp tandoori masala
* 2 – 3 green finely chopped

Instructions
1. Wash the chicken and make incisions on each piece using a sharp knife.
2. Add the ingredients for the marinade coat the chicken with it.
3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour or tastes best when left overnight.
4. Pre heat the oven to 200 degree C.
5. Set a dripping tray on the lower half of the oven.
6. Set a wire rack above the dripping tray.
7. Arrange the chicken on the wire rack and grill for 20 -30 minutes.
8. Turn the chicken pieces and again grill for 20-30 minutes, until they are done.
9. Sprinkle lemon and chaat masala on top.
10. Serve hot with lemon wedges and onion slices.

Tips and tricks

Try to use Kashmiri chilli powder as it gives a lovely red colour to the the chicken , I do not recommend using food colours coz of the health hazards.

Brush the dripping all over the chicken. This keeps the chicken moist. This recipe is made for the weight watchers hence its without oil but for the ones that can afford to gain some weight 😜 make it more moist by brushing butter or ghee.

I don’t recommend this dish with chicken breasts, they’ll dry out too easily.
