Ingredients
· 3 chicken breasts, boneless
· ½ teaspoon ground five-spice powder
· ½ – ¾ teaspoon salt, adjust to taste
· 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
· ½ teaspoon ginger, minced
· ½ teaspoon brown sugar
· ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
· 1 small red chili pepper, minced or chopped finely
· ½ teaspoon low sodium soy sauce
· ¼ teaspoon sesame oil
· ¼ teaspoon aromatic bitters
· ½ teaspoon canola oil (plus more for brushing pan)
Method
Step 1: Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish and season with five-spice powder, salt, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, black pepper, red chili, soy sauce, sesame oil, aromatic bitters and canola oil; mix well. Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2: Heat a grill pan with oil on medium high heat and add the chicken breasts to the pan. Cook for around 4-6 minutes on each side or until cooked through and golden brown.
Serve with basmati rice and fresh green salad!
