? Bulgogi [ Korean BBQ beef ]

Ingredients

Sliced beef (i used rump) – 500g

Spring onions – 130g
Cabbage – 300g
Onion – 200g
Carrots – 80g
Shiitake Mushroom – 30g (or any other types of mushrooms)

**you can use any vegetables you like**

[Sauces to marinate]

Soy sauce – 90ml (6T)
Sugar – 35g (2T)
Cooking wine (mirim) – 30ml (2T)
Corn syrup (Oligodang) – 30ml (2T)
Sesame oil – 30ml (2T)
Pepper – 1g (pinch)
Chopped garlic – 23g (1T)
Onion – 50g (1/2)

INSTRUCTIONS :

1/ Prepare half an onion to put in the blender, and pour over the beef

2/ Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of oligosaccaride (or corn syrup) and massage the beef

3/ Leave for 30 minutes to an hour ** (leave for at least 10 minutes)

4/ Prepare the vegetables into the right sizes – spring onions, cabbage, onion, carrots & mushrooms

5/ When the beef is ready, add cooking wine (mirim), soy sauce, chopped garlic and pepper

6/ Mix & massage well, add sesame oil too

7/ Wrap it up and keep inside the fridge for at least an hour to marinate **(i recommend overnight)

8/ Fire up the pan, add a bit of oil and cook the marinated beef first

9/ Once it’s ~70% cooked throw in the vegetables, and cook until veges are cooked

10/ Sprinkle some Kkae (roasted sesame seeds) on top and serve 🙂

***Tip***
If you want to do prepare the beef marinade in bulk and keep them in the freezer in small portions,
you can defrost a portion of meat (ready marinated) and add veges to prepare them a lot faster!

It’s what we do 🙂

***What to ask for when Korean grocery shopping***
