Since we’ve traveled to so many places and have tried so many delicious restaurants and street foods, we figured we try and recreate some of those delicious dishes in our kitchen. OH BOY!
We’re jumping right into this, and in this episode we’re making one our favorite snacks, Beef Jerky.
How to make Pepper Beef Jerky. You’re gonna need:
– Cookie Sheet w/ Cookie Cooling Rack
– Tupperware Containers w/lids or large ziplock bag
– measuring cup
– measuring spoons
-paper towels
Ingredients:
2 1/2 lbs – Beef
Preferably Top Round or Bottom Round ( Not much fat) or Flank Steak
( if you can, have your butcher slice those up into nice thin slices. You. can do it yourself but you will have to put that beef in the freezer for about 30 to 40 minutes to harden it up just enough for you to cut your perfect slices. )
Marinade:
1 1/2 cup of Coca Cola or Dr. Pepper
1/2 cup or Worcestershire Sauce or Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp – Liquid Smoke ( Natural Pecan Flavor)
3 Tbsp – Seasoned Salt
2 Tbsp – Seasoned Pepper
1 Tbsp – Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Mix all those marinade ingredients together.
Place the flank steak pieces in the Tupperware container
Pour the mixed marinade over the steak pieces and mix it up making sure the pieces of beef get nice and saturated with the marinade.
Put the marinated pieces in the refrigerator and let them marinate for a minimum of 4 hours. Depending on the size of your pieces you can go longer. You can even leave them overnight for an even stronger flavor. We went for 5 1/2 hours because our slices weren’t that thin.
Cooking Instructions.
Before placing slices on the cookie rack make sure the pieces are blotted dry with a paper towel.
Spray the cookie sheet and cookie rack with cooking spray to. prevent sticking.
Put the pieces on rack and bake on your oven’s lowest setting.
Our oven’s lowest temp. setting was 170 degrees.
Cook for 4 hours. Low heat and Slow cook. Time to try those delicious beef sticks out.
Time may be added depending on the thickness and leanness of your beef slices.
Once done. Enjoy your masterpiece creation. Cheers! 🍻
Special thanks to our neighbor and kick butt barbecue master

[Music]hey the world travelershey there I’m Tanya and I’m Dave and weare turning it up world welcome to allright kitchen cooking cooking in thekitchen delicious food best dang they golooking at your cooking cooking cookingin the kitchen weirdthe endturn it up world[Music]yes that’s right we are coming to youfrom our kitchen now we know we’re alsoto be hunkering down during this timeand self-quarantine yourself and stayingat home which is kind of what we havebeen doing now we do have a lot of funtravel content that we’re planning onputting out as well so stay tuned forthat but we figured it’s kind of a goodopportunity to take you guys into somany things but one of the things thatwe’re doing while we are self quarantinejust cooking in the kitchen and todaywe’re coming to you with a cool recipenow it’s not our recipe it’s actuallyone of our fellow youtubers as a matterof fact he’s an austenite and ourneighbor T where he cooks and he’sawesome oh no tier-i cooks is amazingand he’s just a master of the BBQ yesjust great to watch it definitely checkhim out yes and we are so excited todaywe’re going to be making cooking in ourkitchen while self-quarantine here somehomemade beep drinking made right in ouroven[Music]ready get this party started I am readysure Cheersshe is alright here we go so today wewere making peppered beef jerky and ofcourse the first thing you got to getyour beef right and so to start with therecipe you need two and a half pounds ofbeef you want to make sure it’s a leancut so it could be top round bottomround maybe flank steak go to yourbutcher see what they have obviouslywith the quarantine today everyone haveeverything probably right so you kind ofget what’s available and if you can’thave the butcher slice it for youexactly so what we did was I actuallydid ask for the the round top but theydidn’t have that and like Dave mentionedyou can definitely go with the flanksteak which is what we did and that’skind of what they had and we actuallyhad our butcher and he cut it up niceand thin into like nice strips for usnow you can certainly do this on yourown might be a little bit more you knowtedious and time-consuming if a butchercan do it they can do it for you I’msure they have the capacity to do itpretty quickly so we actually got thatin two nice pieces as well so we’reexcited to die because we love flanksteak by the way it moved up Dave usedto be like the master of making flanksteak at home and it was something wealways look forward to so to now turnthis into a UH beef jerky so once youhave your beef you got to make themarinade right and the first step is gotyour dry ingredients first one justthree tablespoons of seasoned salt nowwe love seasoned salt one of the thingsnice about Tina salt it’s it’s got thatnice salty flavor with the dog differentspices things and there are seasoningsit’s really nice then you can have you achoice seasoned salt as well absolutelymaybe I’ve seasoned salt you got to haveyour student pepper – so 2 tablespoonsof seasoned pepper yes and again theseasoned pepper is a nice one it’s anice blend of different spices but withthat pepper it’s gonna give it a littlebit of a kick right and then if you wantmore kick but you got to have that 1tablespoon or crushed red pepper whichwe love we absolutely love the crushedred pepper we add you put that crushedred pepper on everything we like it onsauces oh yeah I might even Mike ademmagrits exactly I don’t know with thissimple but delicious marinade we’regoing to go to the liquid portion ofthis now you’re gonna have to add half acup of Worcestershire sauce now you caneither do soy sauce and Worcestershiresauce we love both so we’re gonnaactually give it a shot with thesticking true to this recipe today withthe Worcestershire sauceand I’m excited to see what that’s likenow on top of that you need to add oneand a half cups for 12 ounces of yourchoice Cola or Dr Pepper action as amatter of fact we’re doing both we’regonna do paths with the cola and halfwith the dr. pepper marinade so I’mexcited to try that I’m very excitedyeah that’s fine so I’m dying to seewhich one tastes better for sure andthen on top of that it’s a secretingredient now if you’re making this inthe oven you really want to try and kindof mimic the smokiness right it would becooking that on a grill outside for awhile so we’re gonna be adding in it’scalled liquid smoke now liquid smoke isnice it’s gonna have this compilation oflike we’re doing if you can so it’sgonna have like a smoky flavor tool withmolasses and pecans it just really kindof gives that kick to mimic that smokyflavor so I actually want to add in onetablespoon of that for sure so so nowit’s time to mix this marinade alongwith those spices so what we’re gonna dois we’re going to pour it into a nicebig ol sized bowl just to really kind ofallow us space to get all theingredients in there to make sense rightso we’re gonna do that we’re gonna addin two spices let’s get those here soyou got that seasoned it’s all in thesalt right in there boom boom you gotthe seasoned pepper there we go oh itsmells so good gotta get those crushedred pepperyum yum gimme soup mix it all togetheryou got to mix that all together andthen once that is nice and mixed you’regonna hear it look at that cool yeahthat’s it oh my goodness gracious yeahthat called uh sizzling we’re gonna giveit a nice good mix and once you mix thatall in there and you get it reallynicely mixed you’re gonna actually addthat to your beef which we’re gonna doin just a second now a couple thingsjust want to mention you might want toget try and get yourself like aTupperware that has a nice little bitbecause you’re gonna need to really getthat marinade mixed into the steakpieces so you gotta shake it up and mixit up and it’s probably nice to havethat tough word since you’re also gonnabe storing this in the refrigerator letthe marinate soak in to the meat forabout four hours now apparently you cando this some folks have said and evenhere I said you can do it overnight butthat might make them Rimma strongexactly where ours is probably a goodtime frame since we’re hungryanyway so right now what we’re gonna dois we’re gonna take that juicy littlemarinade here looks goodsmells so good yes and you’re gonna pourthat over the meat mmm Wow it justsmells it has such a really nice smokysmell you can almost taste it alreadyand you want to get all that in thereall the marinade into the pot as much aspossible and I’m gonna let Dave handlethis all rightcome on over all right here we go thisis actually going to just gonna separatethese uh separate them up make sure thatmarinade gets all in there that’s allover all the pieces all those pieces mixit up yellow hands dirtythat’s what you do I’m just gonna givethat little shake nice and mixed you’regonna actually put that in refrigeratorand let that soak into the meat for Iwould say minimum four out for fourhours and if it’s have a lot of meat inthere you may want to go in there aboutevery hour and kind of go through andkind of just mix it up yeah as well makesure everything gets it mix it up yeaheverything yeah so okay it has now beenfive and a half just about five and ahalf hours of marinating and the reasonwe actually chose to do five and a halfversus our initial four hours is becausethe marinade are pieces of steak areactually a little bit thicker than thethinner slices we would have thoughtabout going for four hours so I thinkit’s important that we want those juicesto really stop up in that steak so justgive it a little bit more time might behelpful now again you can do thisovernightwell we’re hungry we need to actuallydry these out now so we’re gonna take itout I’m gonna get my hands dirty againyes he’s gotta get really get up in ityeah oh yeah yeah yeah yeah let’s grabthese out look at that these are likepretty good sized piecesoh really wanted to marinate those for awhile yes we’re just gonna kind of laythem out and I’m gonna put a layer ontop as well okay it’s now ready to takethe strips of flank steak and put themout of the cookie rack they’re dried uppretty nice just kind of just lay themright down here exactlyyou know nothing too fancy no you justwant to make sure they all fit exactlyso we’ll see you later give me a littlebit space between them obviously one ofthe things you want to do with that isyou want to lightly canola oil thatcookie rack right and a little bit inthe end of the cookie sheet so whateveris dripping down doesn’t really stick tothat now we’re using a nonstick so itshould be helpful to avoid the stick andwe did not have any cooking oil so shameon us we should get something and we’regonna use olive oil but we’re afraidolive oil might actually burn so we’rehoping that the juices from this willactually avoid it from sticking butwe’ll see what happened you’ll find outthe final piece to this puzzle beforeslapping it into the oven to get goingis you want to make sure you get thatnice black pepper now we actually likethe ones that’s kind of the peppercornpepper in the grinder because it’s kindof that fresh cracked color so we’regonna actually spread this now you canuse your judgment however peppery youlike your jerky we do like ours Iwouldn’t say super peppery but I like alittle spice a little kick we alreadyhave like the red crushed pepper flakeright there so this is gonna be a niceaddition to that alright and now we’rejust want me to get that wayright here I’ll get them in there andnow let the delicious okayfirst and foremost before we get intothis lovely final masterpiece creationthis is the next day so Dave and I wehave to cook these bad boys for how longhave seven hours I’ve been hours nowobviously we have thicker slices youdefinitely if you want to maybe try andmake them as thin as possible that’llactually lessen the time that you haveto cook these bad boys smells amazingcan’t believe me I can’t believe iteither but I know what we can do oh yeahit’s time to eat which is which okaysure so we have the coca-cola right callthem their name exact coke Cola marinadeand the dr. pepper marinade and ofcourse you cannot dive into somedelicious beef jerky without having areally cool Pale Ale now this is aSierra Nevada yeah that’s how we rollall right you want to start with the acoca-cola since that is kind of the oneinitiated to begin with exactlycoca-cola pepper beef jerky right manand take a look at that coloroh man that color is just nice and it’slong but really nice or good it’s theone time you want to say man this isthis beef dried out what’s amazing yeahit’s ride beef unless it’s tricky noit’s unbelievable amazed I still cannotbelieve we made this I can’t either itlooks delicioustake a bite right I think Sally mmmoh my god oh my godWow we made this hmm oh my god wowthere’s so good the seasoning reallycomes to life in it oh yeah a littlespice mm-hmm in the red pepper flakesyeah questionwow this is unbelievable own taste ofsweetness from the coca-cola for sureand also the Worcestershire sauce isreally nice to not just run you knowit’s not just running that soy sauceprobably be a lot stronger yes this hasa nice little kind of us okay yeahreally good now I will say because it’sthis flank steak then it might be alittle bit more in the fattier sidewhich is why we’re getting a little bitmore the greasy texture versus beingstill probably dry but dang this is drythat’s good okay there’s a really goodoh that was really good that was oh sodelicious I mean I could probably devourthose off right now right well I knowhold on oh I know got a try the dr.pepper marinade and I’m curious if therewill be a difference now I will say forwhatever reason not sure why they came alittle bit wetter it looks like thenthey’re coca-cola merriday now thesemost of these were in a were in a rowbelow as well they’re in the lower trayof the oven that may have had an impacthey grab one grab one grab one too hereoh yeah oh yeah here we go yeah this isgreatagain with that nice spice the rutcrushed red peppers give me a little bitof that spicy kick the flavor is justamazing now I definitely taste thedifference that’s maybe not quite assweet not quite as sweet yeah hold onactually I might prefer this one it’sreally really nice you can really tastethe taste of beef in this which is greatafter you Kevin the other one too butmaybe not as sweet that is really reallygood so I’m amazed I mean we actuallycooked pepper beef jerky and it’s damngood I mean I can’t believe it Wow rightnow ramen Cheerswell done mission accomplishedso that about does it for us but reallyquick we had so much fun kind of cookin the kitchen and bringing you guysalong with us since we’re all
