Team Challenge 1: At the start of this episode, the judges announced that April Lee had been forced to withdraw due to a back injury, and as a result, Barrie was brought back to the competition. For the first team challenge, the cooks were tasked to run their customized MastcherChef Canada delivery app, coming up with three dishes. The team with the highest rating out of 5 will win the challenge. Before the challenge began, the cooks were asked to name their biggest threat in the competition. Barrie and Christopher named Andre; Andre and Andrew both said Christopher; Marissa said Andrew; Jen said Andy; Jeremy chose Mai; and Mai, Andy and Thea all said Jeremy is their biggest threat. With most naming Jeremy, he was chosen as the captain of the red team. And as he named Mai as his biggest rival, she was chosen as the captain of the blue team. For their teams, Jeremy selected Andy, Christopher, Thea and Marissa, whereas Mai selected Andre, Andrew, Jen and was left with Barrie as the last pick. Jeremy’s red team decided on a chicken karaage poke bowl, Asian charred eggplants and Filipino sweet potato noodles, whilst Mai’s blue team served jerk chicken wings, mushroom tacos and pork tenderloin cold soba noodle salad. Overall, food were well received with the main criticism pointed to the red team’s small portion sizes and the blue team’s bland mushroom tacos. With a rating of 4.1 to the blue team’s 3.8, the red team wins the challenge.

MasterChef Canada is a Canadian competitive cooking reality show, part of the MasterChef franchise, open to amateur home cooks. It premiered on CTV on January 20, 2014, and has aired its sixth season. The show stars three judges: Claudio Aprile, Michael Bonacini and Alvin Leung. The show is produced by Endemol Shine International and Proper Television.
MasterChef Canada airs Tuesday nights on CTV and the Cooking Channel in the United States.The current season airs starting in September of each year in the U.S. It airs also in Sweden, Italy and Spain.
On August 8, 2018, CTV renewed MasterChef Canada for another season, announcing that audition casting for the all new sixth season was greenlit. Filming began in October 2018 and concluded in January 2019. Season 6 premiered on CTV on April 8, 2019, and ended on June 10.
The series was renewed for a seventh season, which is a Back to Win season. It aired its premiere on February 14, 2021.
