How to make VEGAN YAKITORI 🇯🇵 🌱 Grilled Japanese “Chicken” Skewers Recipe!

I show you how to make VEGAN YAKITORI aka grilled Japanese skewers! These skewers are usually eaten at izakayas in Japan. This recipe is made from soy meat which you can find online or at some supermarkets in Japan.

INGREDIENTS:
・12-14 blocks dried soy meat
・1-2 “naganegi” thick spring onion/leek
・1 tsp kombu dashi powder
・3 tbsp soy sauce
・2 tbsp mirin
・2 tbsp sugar
・1/2 tsp minced garlic
・1/2 tsp minced ginger
・cracked black pepper
・salt
・bamboo skewers

this bad boy it smells so good heyeveryone welcome to crate kameena todaywe’re gonna be making vegan yakitori akagrilled Japanese chicken skewers yesthese skewers can usually be eaten atJapanese bars or izakayas like totallykazoku and are usually eaten withalcohol this recipe makes for skewerslet’s get startedfirst take 12 blocks of soy meat and putit in a saucepan I bought mine on Amazonand I’ll leave a link down below I addeda couple of extra skills some may breakin the process then add some water andwe’re gonna let this simmer on mediumheat after simmering drain and rinse itthen put it back in the saucepan nowlet’s add our seasonings first add 1 TSPof kombu dashi powder next add 3tablespoons of soy sauce then add 2tablespoons of meeting then add 2tablespoons of sugar but feel free toadd less if you want it less sweet thenadd 1/2 teaspoon of minced ginger and1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic then addenough water to cover the blocks thenstir then finally add some cracked blackpepper and put it on medium heatremove the firm on top and then when theliquid has evaporated take it off theflame now chop some Naga Negi which arethese really thick spring onions intoone and a half inch long pieces we’regonna need eight pieces altogether nowwe’re gonna assemble our skewers I gotmine from my 100 yen store and I’m usingthe one with a thick handle on thebottom first pierce one soy meat blockonto the skewer then add the onion thenalternate until you have three pieces ofsoy meat and two pieces of onion perskewer then repeat for each skewer andyou should end up with something likethis it already looks so much like yourtoe to you guys as you can see there’ssome birkin extra pieces sir just eatthat all laternow let’s heat some oil in a frying panon lower heat you can also use a grillbut the pan is so much easier for methen add your skewers add a bit of salton the onion pots then press it downdon’t cook it too much at this pointbecause we’re gonna remove it from theheatonce this allows the onion to rest andcook through this is important becauseyou don’t want to bite down into rawonion and you usually don’t need to dothis for normal yakitori but since weare using soya meat chicken the oniondoesn’t have enough time to cook throughso now let’s put it back on the pan andheat both sides and we are finished withour skewers yeah don’t these lookamazing you guys they look so real andyou wouldn’t even be able to tell thatit’s vegan okay guys so here’s ouryakitori so we’re gonna eat it okaylet’s try this bad boy it smells so goodlook at that y’all[Music]ah ah it’s so good guys let’s eat thespring onion huh huh you guys have totry this it is I hope you enjoyed thisvideo give this video a thumbs up if youwant to drive this recipe and don’tforget to subscribe down below for morevegan in Japan contents I’ll see youguys in the next video bye BAM[Music]
