Juicy smoked pork spare ribs

Pork spare ribs:
1 1/2 kilo pork ribs
Pork spare ribs sauce ingredients:
1 cup tomato sauce
230 grams brown sugar
1/2 cup sweet soy sauce
1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce
1 tbsp liquid smoke flavour
1 pc star anise
1 pc cinnamon stick
Best spice dry rub ingredients:
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp black whole peppercorn
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 1/2 tsp ground mustard
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried thymes
2 tsp rosemary powder
Combine all ingredients in a food processor to thoroughly mix all the spices.
PROCEDURE:
1. Preheat the oven at 210°C.
2. Season the ribs with spice dry rub. Completely season the ribs with spice rub on both sides.
3. Drizzle ribs with oil.
4. Put it on a baking tray. Cover with baking paper and tin foil.
5. Bake the ribs at 190°C for 2.5 hours.
6. While baking make the BBQ sauce.
7. In a medium pot, add the tomato sauce, sweet chilli, sweet soy sauce, brown sugar, star anise, cinnamon stick and the liquid smoke flavour.
8. Let it simmer for at least 15 mins in low heat because it might get burn easily because of the sugar.
9. After baking, take out the ribs from the oven and remove tin foil.
10. Add bbq sauce on top of the ribs and spread like crazy.
11. Bake for another 10mins at 190°C for added flavour.
12. Transfer the ribs in a clean serving plate.

Notes:
You may find the liquid smoke flavour from grocery stores.
Liquid smoke flavour is used as an alternative for cooking with wood smoke, while it retains a similar smokey flavour.
