In today’s video we are going to make Chinese BBQ roast porkIn China we call it 叉烧 (cha shao)Today recipe is very very very simpleand this recipe is super super simple
even you never deal with Chinese food, never cook Chinese foodbut you can make this, trust me. So, let see what the ingredient isHere is the ingredients,why I say it is super super simple and everybody could make itbecause this dish only need 3 ingredientswe are using pork shoulder for this dishwhy we are using pork shoulder, as you can see the fat on the meatwe want to use meat with little bit of fatif the meat is too lean it will be too dry after roast/broilBelieve me, you want the meat to be a fattyIt will taste a lot better than lean meatI sliced the meat to around 1/2 inch thickI only have 3 small pieces of meat here,because only my wife and I, so I don’t want to make too muchThe next key ingredient/a much have for this dish isThe name of this sauce is “Char Siu Sauce (叉烧酱)”and the brand of the sauce is “LEE KUM KEE(李锦记)”What we are going to do here is use this sauce to marinate it for over nightor at least 4 hours, the longer the betteranother thing I am going to use is honeycan be any brand, doesn’t make a differentLet marinate it !!!!how many sauce you will use is depending one how many meats you are cookingthe sauce is like thick pasteI am using 2 full spoons of saucehalf spoon of honeyThis is a very very good recipe,because I am using a pre-make sauce doesn’t mean it is not goodit taste very good, that is why I am showing yourI am Chinese and I am approve itI am from Guangdong, where you can find the best roast pork in the worldjust massage it a little bitPut it into the refrigerator for overnight or at least 4 hours after you mix it well,The way to cook it are either roast or broilfor around 20 minutes , and I will show you the whole processThat is why I said it is very simple, and everyone can make it in the beginningEspecially during the pandemic, you can’t really eat out or might not want to go outyou will be cooking a lot more than you used toand this is a very simple recipeit only take couples minutes to prepareand put it into the oven for 20 minutes then you are doneI can tell you, this receipt is a lot better than most of the small Chinese take out placeThe meat already marinated for more than 24 hours, let take a lookthis is how it look like and I am ready to broil it in the ovenKeep whatever sauce that left on the platewe will brush it on the meat when it’s almost readyLet put it into the oven !!!!As you can see, the roast pork is doneit may not look as good as what you buy from the storebecause resturanct use edible into the marinate sauce but we don’tsmell very good, also I want to show you guy somethingbecause we are using fatty meat,there is good amount of oil came out from the meatIf you really want the best taste of ityou can pour these oil on top of the meat after you sliced itso, let cut it and have a tastetaste very goodOk, it is done and I just taste it.
