CROCKPOT RIBS , WITH EASY HOMEMADE RUB AND BBQ SAUCE | Richard in the Kitchen

In this video I’ll show y’all how to cook crockpot ribs. Easy as rubbing your ribs with an easy to make delicious homemade rib rub and throwing the seasoned ribs in the crockpot. I also show you how to make a fantastic 3-ingredient homemade BBQ. Just throw the ribs in the crockpot then finish them off under the oven broiler for just a few minutes for fall off the bone BBQ ribs that will silence even the most critical critic.

Shopping List:
3 lbs. baby back pork ribs

Sauce:
2 cups your favorite BBQ sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup light brown sugar

Homemade Rub:
1 T Cajun seasoning
2 T Kosher salt ( if using table salt us 1/2 that much )
1 t Dried oregano
1/2 t Garlic powder
1/2 t Onion powder

Directions:
Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix.
Combine the rub ingredients in another small bowl and mix.
Remove the membrane off the back of the ribs by prying your finger under the membrane and pull off. Using a paper towel to grab the membrane helps because it is slippery.
Cut the rack down the middle so they will fit in the crockpot.
Rub the rub into the top and bottom of the ribs and place into the crockpot one rack at a time.
Pour enough sauce to just cover the first rack then the other rack.
Cover and cook on low 8 for hours or high for 4 hours. IMPORTANT: ALL CROCKPOTS ARE DIFFERENT AND MAY COOK FASTER SO YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR CROCKPOT. Low is better. Ribs are safe to eat at an internal temp of 145, but they are most tender and juicy up to 190-200.
NOTE: IF YOU DON’T LIKE FALL OFF THE BONE RIBS AND WANT MORE TEXTURE, CHECK STARTING AT 6 HOURS UNTIL DESIRED TEXTURE IS REACHED.

When the ribs are done spoon some of the cooking juices over them and carefully remove from the crockpot and place on a baking sheet pan meat side up. Lightly brush on some of the remaining BBQ sauce and place under the oven broiler for 3-5 minutes to caramelize and develop a light char. Ribs should be about 6 inches under the broiler.
Allow ribs to rest no longer than 10-30 minutes or they will start to dry out.
Serve and enjoy with a side of taters.

HELPFUL TIPS:

1. USING A CROCK POT LINER WILL MAKE CLEANUP AN EASE.
2. COOKING RIBS IN THE CROCK POT TEND TO BE VERY TENDER AND SOMETIMES WILL FALL APART WHEN LIFTING THEM OUT. USING A LINER ALLOWS YOU TO LIFT THE RACKS OF RIBS RIGHT OUT OF THE CROCK POT IN THE BAG TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING.
Cook the ribs on low for about 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. I prefer the longer cook for maximum tenderness.
When the ribs are done lift them out in the liner and lay them out on a cutting board. Cover them with the remainder of the sauce, cut them individually and enjoy!
HELPFUL TIP: CUT EACH RIB NEXT TO THE RIB ON EACH ONE RATHER THAN IN THE CENTER BETWEEN EACH RIB.
