well hello class my name is Miss Leslieand today we’re gonna learn how to makeyour own barbecue sauce if you ever hadthat dinner where you’re like oh we ranout of our favorite barbecue sauces so Ihave a great recipe for you it’s gonnabe posted down below and we’re gonnastart with cutting up an onion and I’mgonna leave it up to you how you cut upyour onion I’m gonna peel it and thencut it as small or as big as you wantbecause we’re gonna be blending it inthe blender when it’s all done so it’snot that important how you cut it andthen we’re gonna do two cloves of garlicand my favorite way to do garlic isprobably one that you know but I’ll justtell you anyways that both ends off andthen smash it with your knife and thepalm of your hand and then the outerlayer comes off really easy otherwiseit’s so hard so if you’re not going tobe chopping it up very much you can justput it in to your pot now I’m gonna showyou what I did alreadyI let the onions and the garliccaramelize and there’s no better smellthan onions cooking and with garlic I’lltell you that with two tablespoons ofoil so that’s like a lovely little roundand a little translucent and yep andthen we’re gonna let this cook for likeif you didn’t already do it like me itwould be like five minutes on the stoveon medium heat and then we’re gonnastart putting our other ingredientstogether when we’ll add that to this andlet it go another ten minutes but we’llcombine all the ingredients because ithas cornstarch in it and if you addcornstarch to something hot you’re justgonna get a bunch ofwhite cooked little blocks so that’swhat’s so important about that but I’llgo ahead and add some of this in greensome of these ingredients actually tothe pot because it doesn’t necessarilymatter except for the cornstarch in thewater two cups of brown sugar and I knowit sounds like a lot and this recipedoes make a lot but there’s so manythings you can do before you sauce likeyou can do ribs so you can do you canuse it for a chicken or beef which Ihave going right now so we got the twocups of sugar and then one can of tomatosauce and I love this recipe because ituses all the ingredients that I probablyhave around already so I’m gonna do thatand I was watching my cans first who hadtouched them before so you know for thepandemic and one can or jar of pineapple[Music][Music]this again we’re gonna be blending itafterwards so don’t really have to worryabout you know the chunks are if youwant to get crushed by an apple you cando that but the chunks are just fineand then a half let me check my recipe1/2 a cup of vinegar I use apple cidervinegar you can use probably whatevervinegar you like and then 2 teaspoons ofand this is just a regular mustard butif you want it do the Dijon or somethingstone-ground that would be really tastyas well and then a tablespoon ofWorcestershire sauce Worcestershiremakes everything taste better then oneingredient that you may or may not haveis lock stock strap molasses and Iusually get this around Christmastime tomake gingerbread cookies with and itlasts forever so it’s a good thing tohave on hand got a quarter cup ofblackstrap molasses I’m gonna let thatdrain a little bit and then you’ve got abunch of spices oh this is just the oilthat I already put in when I cooked theonions and garlic here we have a nicearray of things this is corn starch andthis we want to mix in with cool or coldwater first we’re gonna add a half a cupof water to just start spice and makesure I’m going to add that in my bowl totell us Poon’sof chili powder a teaspoon of salt halfa teaspoon of black pepper let me seewhat this is quarter teaspoon of cayennequarter teaspoon of allspice and that’skind of something that you wouldnormally put with cookies or somethingbut this goes in the barbecue sauce andsomething that my sister told me that isa secured ingredient for a lot ofrecipes and lately I’ve been seeing it alot more one teaspoon of cocoa so I’mgonna add that in and I’m gonna put thisin my bowl andI guess cornstarch is kind of sticky so[Music]what’s more starch is what makes it softall nice and thick and then I’m gonna dohalf a cup of water and I’m gonna usethis quarter cup that I used for themolasses because it’s still a little bitof molasses in there so I’ll do two ofthese and then we’ll just mix this up sowe get the cornstarch all incorporatedand then who it already smells good hmmthen we’ll add this to our pot and we’lllet it go about another 10 minutes andwe want it to come to a boil againso we’ll stir it occasionally and alsoyeah I forgot to mention with the onionsand garlic you do want to occasionallystir that so it doesn’t burn and we’rejust gonna stir this all up and this isgonna go for 10 minutes that you couldhave it go for longer too if you want itsee if you can see this to see it beforeit starts to pour out but I think youcan see a little bit of that so this isgonna go and thicken up and I’ll bereally nice then we’re gonna blend itbut we don’t want to put a hot mixtureinto the blender because it will justexplode everywhere and then you justlike hot nuts everywhere so I like touse about a cup at a time of thebarbecue sauce blend it and thentransfer it intoso then while you’re and that can go inthe fridge and it actually makes morethan this so I have some stew me cookingwith the remainder of it so you can seeit makes a lot so if you want to do ahalf recipe you can totally do that I wego through a lot of our pea sauce thoughso I’m happy to have this much to cookwith and I just wanted to show you alittle hintlike when I’m cooking I don’t want tokeep using a lot of spoons or you knowget my fingers in it so what I’ll do isI’ll take a little bit and just to tastetest it I’ll put on my wrist and thatway I can put this back into the pot andtaste it it’s delicioushope do you have fun with your nextbarbecue and we’ll see you next timethanks bye
