HOW TO MAKE CARNE ASADA (MARINATED GRILLED BEEF) | Richard in the kitchen

In this video I show y’all how to make Carne Asada, marinated grilled beef recipe. Carne asada simply means “grilled meat”. Easy two-step recipe… just marinate and grill. Typically made with skirt steak, but you can also use flank or even round steak. Marinated beef in a delicious easy-to-prepare marinade, sliced thin and briefly grilled rare to medium rare and served in warmed flour tortillas and topped with pico de gallo.

Shopping List:
1 1/4 lb. beef skirt, flank or round steak
Salt and pepper to taste

Marinade:
1/3 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lime juice
2 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. Mexican oregano
1/4 cup sliced jalapeno peppers
4 garlic cloves or 4 tsps. minced garlic
1/2 cup fresh cilantro
Pinch of salt and pepper
1/2 cup olive oil
Garlic butter for dipping (optional)

Directions:
Place the marinade ingredients in a food processor and blend well. Add the steak to a large zipper bag and the marinade in the bag. Seal, shake and massage well. Refrigerate 1-6 hours.
NOTE: Caution about marinating longer because the acid from the orange and lime can start to chemically cook the beef if left on too long.
After marinating, season generously with kosher salt and course black pepper on both sides.
Brush lightly some oil on the grills grates and get your grill or grill pan very hot (450-500 degrees).Cook 3-4 minutes each side until just cooked through. Don’t over cook. You’re looking for rare to medium rare for maximum tenderness.
Slice thin (about 1/8 inch strips) against the grain and serve with warmed flour tortillas and pico de gallo. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
Optional: garlic butter for dipping
