Ayam Bakar (Traditional Indonesian Grilled Chicken)

Ayam Bakar (or Indonesian grilled chicken) is a dish cooked with a special paste. The paste is made by half cooking the chicken with a mix of ingredients – this helps to make the chicken tender and moist and delightful to eat. It’s a popular dish you can find all over Indonesia. It’s great to BBQ here in a lockdown!

The ingredients you need are:
Chicken pieces (I used a whole chicken, but to your taste is ok)
300 to 350 ml water
To blend:
4 English shallots
6 cloves garlic
5 candle nut (or 10 cashew nuts if you cant get them)
1 block palm sugar
1 teaspoon salt
5 spoon of coconut milk
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
3 table spoon kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
