How to Cook Chicken Legs on the Weber Charcoal Grill

In this BBQ Chicken video, I cook some chicken legs, or drumsticks on my Weber Kettle charcoal grill. I seasoned the chicken legs with Tajin’ Clasico Seasoning and then cooked them for 1 hour on a 450 degree F grill. I used Royal Oak Lump charcoal in my Slow ‘N Sear accessory.

[Music]hey guys today I’m gonna cook somechicken legs on the weber kettle solet’s get queuing I have a tray ofchicken legs here these are 3.41 poundsthey were a $1 and 79 cents per pound sothis tray costs six dollars and tencents let me just get them opened uphere and see how they look here allright they seem pretty clean I’m notgonna rinse them off but it’s your foodso you can rinse them if you wantnow I’m gonna season with this Tajinseasoning this is actually for fruit Ithink but it’s good on chicken and fishso this has chili peppers sea salt anddehydrated lime juice in it so I’m justgonna season them on both sides withthis and it kind of gives a chicken anice tang enos it’s not really very hotit’s more tangy than and spicy and alsoI’m gonna add a little bit of salt thisis kosher salt cuz it’s not really allthat salty I like my chicken very saltyso let’s flip him over and do the otherside and then I’ll get the grill it geta little windy out here so hopefully youcan hear me okay I always used lumpcharcoal for chicken because it gets alittle hotter so this is Royal Oak lumpcharcoal and I just take a paper toweland soak it in vegetable oil I don’thave any fire starters so that’s whatI’m using the light this with and Iguess that wind to probably fan the fireso it should burn pretty hot so I’lljust let this get go in hereand this is a slow and sear that’sholding the charcoal that’s been in mygrill for about three and a half yearsnow I really like it it’s got a waterreservoir as well but I don’t use thatfor chicken I just you know go dry sosoon as this these coals get hot willget the chicken on there I filled thesnow and sear all the way up to the topwith charcoal there so why that’s getand go I’m gonna get the chicken on herenow this grill grate is stainless steelthis was sent to me by the adrenalinbarbecue company as well it goes withthe slow ins here it has a biggeropening so I usually just leave the thatpiece of the grill off so it’s easier toadd charcoal and plus I have it like alittle over the top so I can get morecharcoal in there that way like I said Ilike cooking chicken nice and hot sojust how to get pretty hot with thislump charcoal also I have a drip panunderneath the adrenalin come barbecuecompanies sent me that as well this allkind of goes together it’s kind of athree-piece set and it’s been on thegrill for all these things for aboutthree and a half years now so I reallylike it it’s it’s really nice you knowadd on to the grill so it looks like allthese chicken legs will fit on here soas soon as that fire gets a little bithotter I’ll get the lid on there thecoals are turning white and I have myvents wide open so let’s let the cookingbegin it’s been 40 minutes and the grillis running almost 450 degrees Fahrenheitso it’s nice and hot let’s take a lookherethose look good I’m gonna just startturning them over now now I’m gonna getit back to lid back on there for a fewmore minuteslet’s see how we’re doing here you wantchicken legs to be cooked to 175 degreesor so so let’s check one and see wherewe’re at here195 yes so we’re we’re good chicken legsare sometimes a little more tender whenthey’re cooked up to a highertemperature like that anyway so I’mgonna go ahead and get them off of therethese have been resting for a fewminutes and they smell good have somenice color to them anyway let’s try oneout[Music]those are good nice and tender juicy hasa nice tang to it I guess we’ll see withAnnie and Lucy thinks Lucy’s mydaughter’s dog that she lives next doorso she’s over doing a guest taste testhere all right you guys[Music]chicken legs are pretty easy to cookthey’re kind of hard to screw up so theywere on there about an hour but my grillwas running like 450 degrees Fahrenheitso it’s pretty hot it’ll vary a littlebit depending on how hot your grill isbut anyway all right everything in thedescription thanks for watching see youguys[Music]
