Dim Sum BBQ Pork Buns – 叉烧包 Char Siu Bao

A sweet and juicy treat, these Chinese BBQ pork with soft bao buns are a classic Dim Sum dish made at home. And if you don’t want to make the entire recipe, just the BBQ pork alone can be served with rice or noodles.

Ingredients:
Marinade for Pork
1 beetroot
1 onion
1 piece ginger
4 green onions
10 cloves of garlic
3 tbsp shaoxing wine
3 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tsp five spice
4 tbsp brown sugar
4 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tsp white pepper
Bake for 20 mins each side or until cook through.

Sauce for Filling:
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1/2 cup char siu sauce
150ml water
1/4 cup corn starch
1/4 cup water

Bao Dough
2 1/2 = 400g cups all purpose flour
1/2 tbsp instant yeast
1/2 tbsp sugar
240ml warm water ( around 40C-46C/105F-115F)

Steam over boiling water for 10 mins and rest for 5 mins.

叉烧腌汁
1 甜菜根
1 洋葱
1 小块生姜
4 根葱
10 瓣蒜
3 大勺绍兴黄酒
3 大勺老抽
2 小勺五香粉
4 大勺黄糖
4 大勺海鲜酱
2 大勺蜂蜜
1 小勺盐
1 大勺蚝油
2 小勺白胡椒粉
每面各烤20分钟。

叉烧包馅酱:
1/4 杯糖
1/2 小勺盐
1 大勺生抽
1 大勺老抽
1/2 杯叉烧酱
150ml 水
1/4 杯淀粉
1/4 杯水

包子皮
2 1/2 杯= 400g 中筋面粉
1/2 大勺速效酵母
1/2 大勺糖
240ml 温水( 约 40C-46C/105F-115F)

开水蒸10分钟,关火再等5分钟。
