hey guys and welcome back on this videowe’re gonna be testing out the new topicyou with the cruise control system solet’s get going alright so on this testwe’re gonna just be doing a quick babyback ribs on the Kamado Joe they comewith the little plates and the one youknow the plate that I have that it comeswith fits to come out of Joe now I alsohave the slow and Sirica motto but againit just go to any hardware store you canpick up you know the little thin metaljust kind of cut it out you’ll be setdon’t worry about that alright so let’sgo ahead and take a look at this topicyou system we got the topic you unitright here which is rechargeablebatteries inside we got the this is the10 CFM blower here and we got the cruisecontrol so we got the blower pluggedinto the cruise control and it’s prettyeasy to identify this stuff theinstructions are real simple to followand me being you know a dumbass I hadsome cable wrong but when I called topicyou Ginacalled me right back and walked methrough everything and did some testingthey were incredible support but I thinkI got this nailed nailed down now soagain to the fan easy power pluggedright in now this is a I got it curledup right now but this is just a 1/8 inchjack extension that goes into a Y plugsright into port one there’s four portson the topic you unit red goes right tothe thermometer the white goes into theunit[Music]okay so we got the cruise control allset up the actual setup I was gonna showyou how to do it but I think Gina on thetopic you YouTube channel did a reallygood job on showing you how to set it upand I basically I had to go back andwatch that again because I was settingit up the wrong way I had the I had thedual probe sensor the splitter turnedoff and I was trying to control things afan wasn’t kicking in I was going onhere we go again but I just went backand rewatched Gina’s video and I wentduh I had to turn the splitter icon onand set the chamber you can see the fanskicking in and it’s going off it’s got astabilized right now but I just go tothe tap if you turn it off the alarm onthis will shut off as you can see soright now I got the minimum set to to225 and I got the max set to 240 yeah240 so I’ll let this thing stable outand when it’s nice and stable we’ll goahead and get the ribs on and we’ll seehow the same cruises alright so far sogoodthe fans been kicking on keeping thetemp stable it’s been sitting around 240right now and again fully customizableyou can change all your tabs you canchange everything right from your phoneupdates has a nice graph it’s keepingtrack of everything so I know when thefan kicks on the temps when it drops youknow all that stuff pretty handy to haveso we’re gonna go ahead and get our babybacks on there just just basic babybacks with a store-bought rub nothingfancy but we’re gonna just cruise theseyou know no wrapping no nothingfan just kick picked up it kick back onbecause I open the door so it’ll getthat temp right back up there so we’regonna let these crews for about threefour hours until they’re nice and tenderwe’ll be all done all right so we areabout almost at the four hour mark theribs are nice and tender about a 190degrees I was probing them I could haveused a probe on the on the top of cubebut again this this whole technique andI know you know ribs doesn’t take thatlong and you know why you know what’sthe purpose I wanted to get used to theequipment and I wanted to make sure Ican understand the cruise control andhow it works how it functions and againwatching topic Hugh’s video basicallyanswered all my questions one thing Idid do is on the cruise control point Iset the minimum to zero and I set themax to 225 and what that does is that ifmy temp gets below 225 the fan kicks onand gets it above 225 and and just keepsit up there so as long as my grill was225 you know obviously or above then Iwas good and the other setting which wasconsidered the chamber setting wasbasically an alarm to where I set it towhere if they got over 250 it would havesaid it it would alert me at my grill istoo high or my girl you know it’s it’sover 250 keep an eye on itso the grill was getting up to maybe youknow the family kick in it would get upto about 250 sometimes 260 but then itwould come right back down and it wouldhover at the 2:40 mark which was finewith me and if it got below 225 so if Icame and looked and checked open mygrill the family would kick on rightaway got it back over to 25 and turn offand it would just hover where the grillis set at which is completely fine and Iwanted to learn that process so when Iget into the bigger cooks you know withthe longer stuff so if I set the stuffat nightand go to bed and not have to worryabout it and the beauty of this isthere’s four inputs in this thing and Ican if I have four cruise controls I cancontrol four grills with one unit so Ican have the cruise control I can haveanother thermometer for up to threedifferent meatsit’s very expandable at this point so Ido have another cruise control with the22 CFM which is for the bigger grillsand these openings are threaded so youcan put a 3/4 inch pipe in here andwhich I do have for my long star offsetgrill I can actually have this runningon the offset grill on the Lonestarand I can have this running on the theceramic grill and I can control twogrills with one unit all for my phone nomatter where I’m at and that was theother nice part of this is I was sittingin watching TV and I was like yeah youknow what I’ll adjust my taps you know Iwanted to maybe kick up the temps tocook a little faster or you know what Imean not a rush I’m gonna drop the tempsa little they cook a little slower sothat was a nice handy thing to have isbe able to just control it from my phoneand it worked great and when this isdone when this is done and I click insessionit’ll email me a report believe me on mycooks and it’ll show graphs and tabs andtimes and everything so if I have a cookthat maybe didn’t come out too well Ican go to my graphs and look and seewhere you know maybe where I had aproblem with or if I had a really likethe perfect cook then I can go to mygraph to say okay well how what tempsthat I run and how you know what whatsettings that I use and just a betterconsistency alright so at this point ourribs are done and you watch if I openthis up you’ll hear the fan kick on fanjust kicked onbut at this time ribs are donenice little smoke ring on that thisthing is nice and juicy it’s also veryhot but it did its job and I think youknow going forward now that I’munderstanding the equipment a little bitbetter I can do longer cooks have moretrust in it be able to go to bed notworry about it and that’s the whole goalof using something like this so rememberguys mmm remember guys hit that thumbsup go check out topic you’ll have allthe links down below I’ll see you guysin the next round thanks for watching
