what do you do if you want to smoke aturkey but you only have a gas grill inthis video I’m gonna show you how to dothat from start to finish from preppingto adding that smoky flavor to making itcook evenly so it’s tender and deliciousthis is the only video you need to learnhow to smoke a turkey on a gas grill sostay tuned let’s get smoking[Music]smoking a turkey on a gas grill is agreat way to add some smoky flavor toyour next holiday meal it’s also greatbecause you can free up your entirekitchen and oven for preparing otherfood while the bird cooks away on thegrillthe first step is to prepare your turkeythis is a 10 pound turkey and I’drecommend sticking to a smaller turkeybetween 10 to 14 pounds a 20-poundermight look nice but it’s going to betough to cook evenly on the grill ibrined this turkey overnight in a brinesolution of one cup of salt to 18 cupsof water this is really important youshould always brine your turkey becauseit’s going to make it a lot juicierand there’s a lot less chance of youdrying it out brining is one of thefundamental pillars of great barbecuethat I talk about in my other videosafter the turkey comes out of the brinesprinkle on some seasoning in this caseI used a barbecue style seasoning that’sheavy on paprika chili powder and garlicpowder it’s also got some salt in it therecipes in the description section ofthis video if you want to check it outnext set your barbecue on low and aimfor about 350 degrees Fahrenheit you’relooking at about 15 minutes per pound ofTurkey at this temperature then lay downsome foil and pile on some wood chips orwood pellets wrap it up and poke holesin it for the smoke to escape then putthis below the grates so it’s directlyon the burner of the grill the smokepacket is going to provide all thatgreat smoke flavor during the cook nextput the bird in the roasting pan andturn it breast side down pour in somewater and apple cider vinegarso the drippings don’t burn as they comeout of the turkey cook it for one hourand then open the grill and flip thebird over you’ll also want to put afresh smoke packet on at this time thenmonitor the temperature of the breastuntil it hits about a hundred and sixtydegrees Fahrenheit in the deepest partof the breast at this point you can pullthe turkey off the grill and let it restfor 15 minutes slice off a piece of thebreast and then cut it into servingportions it’s best to slice against thegrain now enjoy the smoky goodness andserve it up your family sothat’s it I hope you guys found thisvideo helpful don’t forget to hit thatsubscribe button to get notified of allmy newest BBQ videos good luck with yourturkey and happy smoking
