How to cook Korean beef bulgogi without a grill | Korean BBQ beef recipe

I tried to make some Korean bulgogi beef, also known as Korean BBQ beef, at home. Since bulgogi is usually made with thin slices of beef, I bought some thin cut sirloin steak from the supermarket. I started by mixing the marinade by combining 100ml of dark soya sauce, 50ml of sherry, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 finely chopped spring onions. I cut the sirloin into small pieces and marinated them in the sauce overnight. If you prefer a more savoury taste, you may also add 1 tablespoon of garlic and 1 tablespoon of black pepper into the marinade.

I do not have a Korean BBQ at home, so I stir fried some beef in a frying pan for around 5 minutes, before serving it with lettuce and rice. Most Koreans tend to wrap the beef in lettuce when eating it. Come to think of it, maybe I could use light soya sauce in the marinade instead of dark soya sauce, to give the beef a lighter colour.
