In October 2021, Network 10 announced that MasterChef Australia will return for its 14th season in 2022. The format is to be known as Fans & Favourites and will feature 12 new contestants and 12 former contestants. The season is expected to premiere on 18 April 2022.
The season was initially announced as Foodies Vs. Favourites. In January 2022 production was temporarily halted after several members of the production team contracted the COVID-19 virus. The judges, cast and crew are all fully vaccinated against the virus.
The 12 returning contestants were announced in a sneak peek on 23 March 2022. The full cast was announced on 3 April 2022.
