Episode Summary
Queen Victoria Market Street Food Immunity Team Challenge – The 20 contestants were taken to the Queen Victoria Market for a team challenge, where they were split into four teams. The Blue Team (Darrsh, Harry, Lily, Nat and Captain Khristian), The Red Team (Mimi, Stephen, Sue, Sumeet and Captain Josh P.), The Yellow Team (David, Lourdes, Savindri, Snezana and captain Jonathan) and The Pink Team (Alex, Josh C., Juan, Lachlan and Captain Gillian) were given five hours to prepare a street food menu for 1000 people. Each team has to feature one protein dish (Blue-Fish, Red-Beef, Yellow-Chicken & Pink-Pork) and one vegetarian dish. The Yellow team chose a Greek Style menu but struggled due to the teams lack of knowledge of Greek food as well as Jonathan’s poor chaotic leadership and as a result both of their dishes while tasty, the flavours were too confusing and did not celebrate Greek Cuisine which cost them the challenge. The Pink team’s Sticky glazed pork belly recieve praise but their Yaka tori Mushroom skewer prepared by Juan was underwhelming and felt like a snack rather than a dish which cost them the challenge. It came down to the Blue and Red Team, The Blue Team had an ambitious menu of Seafood stew which receive unanimous praise though the eggplant dish was nice it needed more seasoning and sweetness. The Red team’s Tandoori Beef Skewers, Biryani Rice with a Spicy Curry Sauce and Raita receive positive comments though Andy wish they didn’t held back on the spices But it was their vegetarian dish of Spicy Eggplant Dip, Semolina Bread and Raita that was hailed the best veggie dish of the day, making the red team the winners of the challenge, saving them from Elimination.

MasterChef Australia Show Summary
MasterChef Australia has a different format from that of the original British MasterChef and MasterChef Goes Large formats. Initial rounds consist of a large number of hopeful contestants from across Australia individually “auditioning” by presenting a food dish before the three judges in order to gain one of 50 semi-final places. Entrants must be over 18 years old and their main source of income cannot come from preparing and cooking fresh food in a professional environment.
The semi-finalists then compete in several challenges that test their food knowledge and preparation skills. In Season 1, the top 50 competed until 20 were left, with the final 20 progressing to the main stage of the show. From Season 2 onwards, 24 contestants progress. The contestants will then be whittled down through a number of individual and team-based cooking challenges and weekly elimination rounds until a winning MasterChef is crowned. The winner plays for a prize that includes chef training from leading professional chefs, the chance to have their own cookbook published, and A$250,000 in cash.
